Wow! Another hot day today.
I had my semi-annual checkup with my cardiologist and my annual check by the pacemaker rep. But first I needed to get my annual chest xray. That went very quickly - the hospital was fairly quiet today, surprisingly.
Technol-ogy is so amazing! The pace-maker rep puts a monitor around my neck (it's about the size of a deck of cards) then she 'tic-tics' with a stylus on a computer screen and viola - she can see just exactly what my pacemaker has been doing for the past year. She can tell me how much battery life I have left (approx. 6 years). She can speed up and slow down my beats per minute. And yes, I DO feel it when she does this. Well, apparently on January 29th at 1:00 p.m. I went into atrial fibrillation - my cardiologist told me that the report also showed that. It lasted all of 6 seconds, but they knew exactly when. So, can I remember it? Nope. I even went back to my calendar to see if there was something specific going on that day and I don't have a clue. But because I had those 6 seconds on record, I now have to see the pacemaker rep in 6 months - not one year. They want to keep on top of this just in case it repeats itself.
Our Wednesday night class went pretty well. We had 27 kids and they were pretty tightly wound up tonight. There were three adults and we were busy for the two hours that we had them. I was responsible for snacks tonight and I made bowls with 1/4 piece of apple, 1/4 piece of orange, and 1/3 of a banana. They ate it up. Always surprises me - I think that would have been my least favorite snack when I was a kid.
Tonight I will do a little packing and preparation for my trip tomorrow.
