Day 182

A great Sunday today. We had thunderstorms and rain all night long - I really enjoyed listening to it. Some of the lightning was so close that it really woke me up good. Then this morning we got even more thunder and we've had rain on and off all day.

I actually got to sit in an adult Sunday School class this morning. Our class has about 100 people in it - we meet in the gym and I just kept looking all around at all the people I hadn't seen in so long and just checking on how they look - how they are, etc.
During worship service this morning, we had another short video message from Pastor Mark. He is still battling with his recovery. Last Tuesday he had a whole body scan and it was discovered that he had about 5 blood clots in his body. Most were small and non-threatening, but there was one that was fairly large - so all rehabilitation was halted and he has been required to just lay flat and let medication take care of this issue. Next week he will have a follow-up body scan to make sure it is safe to continue with his schedule of rehab. What a different journey he and his wife, Chris, are on now. But they are both such inspirations in how solid their faith is and their belief that God and prayer support of the church family will see him through this. It's wonderful that we have technology to be able to see and hear from Pastor Mark each week.
We also welcomed our new worship arts pastor this morning too. His name is Pastor Tod (sorry, but that's all I know). Worship was good and I think he will be a good addition to the church.
After football and cheerleading this afternoon, I had dinner with Jason, Peggy, Jaide and Jared. We had:
Crock Pot Swiss Chicken
Herbed Roasted Potatoes
Creamed Corn / Mixed Vegetables
French Bread
Watermelon
Cake and Ice Cream
A lot of food - too much - most of the cake went into the freezer for another time or place.

Wade is getting closer and closer to his time to start traveling. He has had some problems with internet service starting yesterday and cannot view facebook, blogs, or anything else except for straight e-mails. That means that we won't be skyping tomorrow - so the next time I see his face will actually be in person. Still don't know exactly when that will be, but it will be soon.

And now here are the answers to the questions I posted last night:

1. Do you know what happens when you make fun of bald men??

23 From there Elisha went up to Bethel. As he was walking along the road, some boys came out of the town and jeered at him. “Get out of here, baldy!” they said. “Get out of here, baldy!” 24 He turned around, looked at them and called down a curse on them in the name of the LORD. Then two bears came out of the woods and mauled forty-two of the boys.
2 Kings 2:23-24

Lesson:  Never, NEVER make fun of a bald man...... NEVER EVER, EVER ...........

2. Do you know where to find the streaker in the Bible?

51 A young man, wearing nothing but a linen garment, was following Jesus. When they seized him, 52 he fled naked, leaving his garment behind.
Mark 14:51-52

Now when I came across this the first time ...... I had to go back and read it again....... and then I had to read the whole chapter to see if I was missing something........... okay - it's there for a reason - it really, really is, but I don't get it........ and my notation that I wrote next to that scripture years ago in my Bible is this: "Why is this in here?" When I flip through I see this sometimes and still wonder........

That's funny mom! I didn't know either of those were in the bible! Another thing I thought was funny was the talking donkey. I read it like 3 times because I was in disbelief! And I thought shrek was the first one to come up with a talking donkey. NOPE! Totally stole that one from the bible!! Your dinner sounds good! I had Jamaican beef patty. YUMMY! LY xoxo Tiff
