Tonight will probably be short. I think my tiredness has finally caught up with me and I'm not done for the night yet. I got up this morning and drove home from Tiffany's. I left her house around 6:15 and arrived home at 3:00. It was an easy, uneventful drive home. Light traffic, good weather, no problems.
Once I got home my animals were here, but Angel is sick because she ate something she wasn't supposed to. So I've been shampooing carpets most of the time I've been home. I've had a meeting and shopping this evening, but when I came home from that I needed to clean more of the carpet. Yeck!! Poor thing. I didn't get dinner until about 8:30 and now I've decided to just sit and watch some tv and try to relax.
Wade wrote that it was a hot, hot day over there. It's been hot here, but probably 25 degrees cooler than over there. I received a trunk from Wade today in the mail, finally - I took the locks off, but I haven't really looked through what's in there yet. I haven't even unpacked my suitcases yet either. Just like Scarlet, I'll think about that tomorrow................
A year of answering questions......how are you? ...... how is Wade? ....... when is he coming home? .......what is he doing?, etc., etc., etc. Everyone is showing care and concern, I understand and appreciate each and every person that asks, but I wish I could just wear a t-shirt with the "answer of the day". So for a year I will wear my t-shirt here.

Day 85 - Memorial Day
May 30th -
I woke up this morning at Tiff's. Shelby & Sam are gone and Tiff was still asleep. I made a cup of coffee and sat at the kitchen table. I got a thought in my head to go clean out Sam's room. I walked down the hall and looked in........
Sam is "a boy" who doesn't care what his room looks like, and I thought to myself, "why don't I clean it up???" Well, I decided no......and went back to my cup of coffee in the kitchen. But something was nagging at me and I went back to look........
And I started thinking I should go ahead and do this. I could get it done pretty quickly, I thought. So I grabbed trash bags, separated garbage out, separated clothes out and got his room back in order in about 90 minutes.
I was very pleased with how well it turned out. This one of Sam's birthday presents this year. His grandma cleaned his room.
About 10:00 Tiffany & I skyped with Wade again for about 50 minutes. It was a nice visit and Wade wasn't distracted with Shelby & Sam making faces and movements in the screen. It's hot over there and getting warmer and it's not summer yet. Wade is doing a little bit of jogging and it seems to help with his sleeping. Once we were finished, Tiffany & I went to work and straightened up her bedroom. She scrubbed her bathroom, I cleaned out her closet a little and we both straightened up her bedroom. It turned out beautiful too.
We went to a matinee this afternoon. It was nice and cool in the theatre and we watched the movie "Bridesmaids". It was a good, fun movie - but definitely NOT for kids. (R rating for language and adult content) but there were some very funny parts in it.
We stopped for a car wash, gas fill and a couple groceries after that. Tiffany bought some flowers and these are the ones that she put in her newly clean and beautiful bedroom...........
We came home to a crock pot of delicious meatloaf and the smell was so inviting as we walked through the door. We made some mashed potatoes and had a wonderful dinner.
Right now we're sitting in the living room with facial masks on..........
These are anti-stress masks and so we should be feeling de-stressed in about half an hour. Tonight is The Bachelorette and we're looking forward to a quiet evening in front of the tv. Tiffany has work in the morning so it won't be a late night tonight.
I will load up most of my stuff in the car before I go to bed. I'm planning on waking up around 5:30 tomorrow morning and leaving by about 6:00 and heading home. I've had a great time here with Tiff & Shelby & Sam - AND Sarge, Reese, Buttercup and Hercules too. I'll be glad to go home and see my animals tomorrow. Thank you Tiff for a great weekend!

Day 84
Sunday, May 29th -
I got up early and got ready for church. All four of us went and it was very good. Tiffany did an excellent job teaching the Single Ladies Class (..... all the single ladies.......). Church was good too with an excellent sermon by Dr. Dewey Davidson on Jeremiah 8:20 and the urgency to share the gospel with the lost. Very inspiring! The funny thing both Tiffany & I realized is there were two songs we sung today, that we sung last time I visited, AND the time before that too!! Tiffany swears that they haven't sung them other Sundays, so perhaps God is wanting me to really hear those two songs.
After church we dropped off Shelby & Sam at Granny's house and then we were ready to go for a girls' afternoon. Lunch was another mexican restaurant which was excellent.
After lunch we stopped at the Cobb County Police HQ to see Tiffany's office. Huh! Imagine that - even on a holiday weekend the police department is open!! ha-ha.
From there we drove to Shoe Carnival for our yearly supply of sandals. They had a sale - buy one pair/get half off the second pair. Excellent deal. And we are all set for our summer footwear. I actually bought the exact same pair of sandals I bought last year because they lasted and they were comfortable and I liked them. From there we went to Kohls with a stop for a diet coke in between. We both got a few summer tops and were worn out.
Naps were on the agenda in the afternoon and we earned an A+ in the subject. Dinner tonight was stuffed salmon with an awesome pasta salad that Tiffany made. We watched a movie on Netflix called "Salt" with Angelina Jolie. It was a good thriller/adventure/action movie and I enjoyed it.
Now we're watching Allie McBeal shows on Netflix until bedtime.
I have heard a little from Wade today - he's fine and we're looking forward to skyping tomorrow in the morning.

Day 83
Saturday, May 28th
In Georgia, a good time to go shopping is first thing in the morn-ing. That way you avoid traffic, large crowds (and believe me there are ALWAYS large crowds in Georgia), and the heat. So Tiff & I woke up at 7:00 and were headed to Wal-Mart by 8:00. We shopped our little hearts out and this is the fruits of our labors. I will not divulge just how much it all cost, but I was under direct orders from Wade to shop until I ....... well, you know the rest! We started out with two empty carts and filled them up pretty good. We left Sam & Shelby at home, and then once we were on our way home from the store we called to let them know to be ready to help unload and carry all the goodies upstairs.
You might remember a couple of weeks ago I bought the pink purse for myself at Wal-Mart. Well, this morning Tiffany bought the blue/green one at her Wal-Mart and she wanted to have a picture to show them off.
At noon we all (me, Tiffany, Shelby & Sam) skyped with Wade for about 75 minutes. It was a good time and we had lots of fun seeing him. Sam shared his nostrils by hanging his nose over the top of the computer right in front of the camera. As Sam would say, "Good times!".
Then us girls all had a hand treatment with hot wax. Our hands have never felt that soft. What a great feeling.
Later in the afternoon, while Tiffany napped, Shelby and I put on facial masks, and here we are waiting for the masks to dry. I can tell you that when the masks were completely dry, we couldn't smile at all! But our faces never felt better either. Those masks only cost about a dollar at Wal-Mart which was well worth it!
We had homemade hamburgers, beans and chips for dinner tonight that were delicious.
Tonight I went out and sprayed the wasp nests around Tiffany's house. Tomorrow I'll go knock down their little homes and we should be safe from all the little creatures for a while.
Bedtime will be early for all tonight so that we can go to church in the morning. Tiffany will be teaching the Single Women's class again and she'll be teaching on the 23rd chapter of Luke - so I'll have to read that a couple of times tonight so I am prepared.
I've had a good day and I look forward to another good day tomorrow.

Day 82
The Big Graduation Day
This morning Tiffany, Shelby & I got up and drove to Northside Elementary School to witness a rite of passage. Little Samuel Wade Kight bid adieu to 5th grade this morning and hello to middle school life once summer is over. The adults gathered in the gym and all the 5th graders entered and took seats in front of us. Sam is in the maroon shirt with the white stripe.
Most of the time he was hidden behind other students, but here I got a clear shot of him.
Here he is receiving his certificate. Phew!!! He passed!!! Good job, Sam!
And he's returning to his seat.
Mom and Sam in the hallway after the ceremony.
A neat idea by his teacher. She selected all types of candy bars and awarded them to each child with an explanation of why they received the type that they did. Sounds like maybe Sam is taking after a certain grandfather...........
After we left the school we went to the grocery store to buy a gift for Sam. Premade candy bouquets cost $25.00 at Kroger. We bought the ingredients ourselves and created one of our own for him. Way cheaper, and WAY better candy.
I think he liked it. He also got to choose what we had for dinner tonight and we dined on chinese take-out. It was good. So, good choice Sam! And congratulations to you. Your grandpa and I love you.

Day 81
Today was a whole day of traveling. I woke up at 6:45 and I was out of the house by about 8:45. I had no clothes or toiletries packed until this morning. I took a different route down to Georgia and it was soooo much nicer. I went down 68 to 71 then took 275 to 75. I skirted Dayton AND Cincinnati and crossed into Kentucky on a different route.
This week has been pretty intense with lots of thunderstorms, tornado watches, etc. As I drove through Xenia this morning the roads were covered in leaves, rain gutters were hanging off eaves, and trees were laying down when they really shouldn't be doing that. I'm guessing they had a tornado pass through there last night. Xenia is famous for attracting tornadoes and they have gone through that many, many times.
Again, through Tennessee, I encountered some pretty strong thunderstorms, and at least 4 different times I passed accidents where people slid off into ditches, walls, other cars and I'm assuming it was due to the heavy rains and winds. I thought I was through it all when I entered Georgia, but I was wrong. First however, as I was coming down 75 in the area just north of Cartersville, I noticed both sides of the road were stripped of trees. But not just stripped, it looked like the trunks had been twisted and ripped off - which I am guessing is exactly what happened. It was a very eerie sight, just remnants of trees that were now 5 or 6 foot high stubs. Tiffany says about 3 weeks ago, there were a string of tornadoes that went through the area. This is about 15-18 miles from Tiffany's house - not very far at all.
As I was on the final road to Tiffany's, I drove through another storm that dropped large hail. Many cars pulled over to wait out the hail, but I just kept on driving and arrived here safely. (Wade - that would be the road that I think Mimi lives off of...............)
We had more storms this evening but no damage or power loss.
I posted Wade's blog to Facebook and he will send it out in the morning via email. He is fine and I've been sending little emails throughout the day letting him know where I was in my traveling.
Tomorrow morning we get up to go watch Sam 'graduate' from elementary school into middle school. Then I heard we will probably go enjoy a lunch together.

Day 80
Wednesday, May 25th.
My last day here for a while. I went to church this morning to meet with some other helpers and we took supplies for 13 Sundays of VBS and sorted crafts, games and other items into indi-vidual bags. We copied, cut, and made samples for demonstrations. We began about 9:00 in the morning and finished at 2:30 in the afternoon. Instead of holding a traditional VBS over 2 weeks during the summer, we choose to hold the VBS on each Sunday morning during the summer. It works out so nice that way. At 10:00 I broke away and drove over to the school to meet with my mentee. Unfortunately, she was absent again this week. So it's been 2 weeks now that we have missed and next Thursday will be our last meeting together for the school year. Hopefully she will make it. I was kinda bummed that I missed her again.
After that I returned to the church to help out again. We had a nice break of pizza, provided by the church, for lunch today.
Tonight we had our last night of Seekers & Singers II. Next week will start the summer session of "Summer Kids". I looked over the curriculum and it looks pretty cool. I'm excited about that.
We're having thunderstorm warnings and tornado watches here until almost 11:00 tonight. We have a few storms going through now, but I don't think we're in direct line of the storms.
I'm watching a little bit of Desperate Housewives and in a while I'll think about finishing up the packing for my trip tomorrow. I'm thinking I'll be leaving in the morning around 8:00. I also need to stop at the post office and send off a package to Wade first thing in the morning too - good thing I'll be driving right past a post office on my way.

Day 79
Tuesday - This morning I had an appointment with the dentist. I'm surprised how much my teeth hurt after they clean them. I don't know if it's this particular hygienist or me, but it feels like she's really digging and yanking a lot. Plus, I had a cavity, so I was invited to stay and have that taken care of as well. When it was all finished, they offered me a type of flouride covering to protect my teeth. It was something new
that they painted on my teeth. She called it 'varnish'. I had to keep it on for four hours. I could drink or eat, if I wanted, but no brushing my teeth during that time. Well, it turned out pretty disgusting. It was thick and goopy like varnish and for 4 hours (at work!!) I kept my mouth closed because it looked like white, nasty stuff on my teeth. I didn't eat anything until after I could brush because any food I tried tasted like that varnish. Yeck!! But now, I'm all set for the next 6 months and I don't have to make a return trip to take care of my filling. I like that!
I went to Hannah House and did some work there. I hear that there is another mother moving in tomorrow, however I won't get to meet her until next week. She has a little boy and is expecting another child in October.
When I left Hannah House, I went to my friendly nail salon and had a pedicure. It was time to take care of my feet - I went with a darker maroon-type shade this time.
I stopped at the store on my final trip home and picked up some Skinny Cow Ice Cream. Of course, when your mouth hurts from the dentist, you just HAVE to have some ice cream! I think it's a law in Ohio, or something.
Now I'm watching more Desperate Housewives. We may get some more storms this evening. We had some pretty good storms last night but no property damage.
I got some nice emails from Wade. He is hot, tired and busy, but I think he's pretty happy with all the work that he is accomplishing. I wrapped a couple of birthday presents tonight for someone I'll be seeing in two days.
Tomorrow I'll be pretty busy and then when that's done I'll start packing up the car. Looking forward to the trip, but gonna miss my sweet animals - except for the stupid bird at my kitchen window!

Day 78
As soon as I sit down and put the computer on my lap, my cat decided to come and knead my tummy. What a crazy cat.
I got to talk with Wade today on skype for a while. He was tired out because he's had a pretty busy, busy day.
He got mail today and received the banjo, pics, tuner, and strings that I ordered for him. I bought it through amazon.com and they delivered it directly to him so I didn't have to pay for postage again. Speaking of which, I mailed 2 more 'care' packages to him this morning with lots of goodies in there. He told me today that his stash of snackie-type foods is running low so I'll be shopping for various goodies to send off to him.
I did some tutoring this afternoon and then went to handbell rehearsal this evening. After I came home we had tornado warnings in our area. The wind and rain were so intense and awesome that I had to stand out on my porch and just watch for a while. I think most of it has passed now and we had no damage.
Just another ordinary day here. I'm still watching Desperate Housewives and I'm now in season 4.

Day 77
Another Sunday.....
I taught Sunday School again on the same topic as all month long. The story from Acts 2. This week was particularly good and it seemed that the kids and I "clicked" today and I feel that we had a really good time. We only had maybe 8 total (3rd & 4th graders) but it was a great group and I'm very happy with how it all turned out. We finished a little early so we all played Biblical-themed hangman.
Church was good too. We had a baptism service this morning and there were 3 children and 4 adults baptized. Pastor Mark spoke on the role of the family, the role of the husband, of the wife, of the parent, and of the child. All from Ephesians 5:21 - 6:4.
I couldn't resist and I made a stop on the way home as a tribute for Wade. I drove by it at first, but then I turned around and had the kids get out. Jared was pretty excited that we actually did stop. I warned them to stay away from the road and not to make any fast moves. I didn't want them to be responsible to cause an accident on the road.
Our family meal today was a baked potato bar with the following toppings and sides:
I got a nice email from Wade this morning and I look forward to hearing from him when he wakes up on his Monday morning although I will be in bed here at midnight tonight. In his letter he did mention that all the British troops are now all pulled out and gone. What this means, I don't know.........

Day 76
Saturday, May 21st - According to some people, this was to be the 'end of the world' or the rapture. Well, apparently that wasn't the case...... not that I was expecting it. I just went about my day like any other Saturday. According to the Bible, only God knows the day and the time. I'm not relying on anyone else on this earth to predict when I will get to see the face of Jesus.
I got up and did my grocery shopping early. Saturdays can be crazy at Wal-Mart but most of the 'crazies' aren't out at 8:30 in the morning so I was able to get it all done and be home by 10:30.
I spent most of the rest of my Saturday participating in a Desperate Housewives marathon. I'm working through all the seasons and I've gotten up to Season 3 so far. I sure do love Netflix. Other than that, not a whole lot has gone on in this household today.
Wade wrote this afternoon and he has gotten his air conditioning fixed and he's ecstatic about that. He was looking forward to resting this evening in the coolness and watching some tv in his hootch.

Day 75
Today turned out to be a very beautiful day. Nice and sunny and warm. I was finally feeling better today too, so that made it even better. I seem to have regained some of my energy.
I'm glad I got some housework done. It's funny to be happy about doing housework, but when it can't be done because I'm not feeling right - getting something accomplished makes my outlook a whole lot better.
Floors got vacuumed, dog beds washed, plus a general straightening-up, along with open windows really made an improvement in this place.
This morning I also got to skype with Wade again. He was happy to show me his new bed, refrigerator, wardrobe, and television. However about 10 minutes into our conversation, his air conditioning wasn't working. It was so hot there, that he couldn't concentrate on our visit. He took his computer and went over to his office so we could finish talking in a cooler environment. I got to meet his co-worker, Myles. They are having a fly battle. It seems both of them have one of those bug zappers that looks like a tennis racket and they've been keeping track of who zaps the most flies. As of now, Wade is ahead.
I had a quiet, relaxing afternoon and Tiffany gave me a call on her way home from work. She has the weekend to herself and has a dinner to go to tonight with some of the ladies at her church. I had a nice talk with her.
Then later, Jason, Peggy, Jaide & Jared came upstairs to visit. Peggy & Jason were here for about half an hour and then they left. Jaide & Jared stayed for frozen pizza and a movie. So we're watching Shrek: Happily Ever After. We had pizza, watermelon, cheez-its, and chips ahoy cookies. They'll be here until about 8:00. Then I'll get in my jammies and watch another movie or some tv before I head off to bed.
I would rate this as a very good day today.

Day 74
It's Thursday and I've gotten to see Wade's blog. He always sends me his update with pictures and then I format it and post it to his blog. He still sends out an e-mail update on his Friday morning, but I post his blog late on Thursday evening. .......I love that I get to see it first.
Today was another pretty lazy day. I had both Jaide & Jared with me before school waiting for their buses. Once they were gone I rested and slept all morning long. This afternoon I got dressed and went to Snyder Park school to spend my hour with Amanda. Unfortunately, she was absent today. We've only got two more weeks of school left so our time is coming to a close.
I then drove over to Home Depot and paid for three new storm doors to be installed at the house. After we had that warm spell a couple of weeks ago, I decided that it was time to invest in something nicer than what we have. I don't know how old these doors are, but even the contractor commented on how old they were when he came to take measurements.
While I was outside this afternoon I took some more pictures of the yards. It is always so amazing how green everything gets at this time. Everything is so intensely green that it almost seems like the air is green too. It's not too hot today, and it was raining just slightly so it was very pleasant outside.
I have a Leadership class to go to tonight. I won't be home until about 9:00 and then I plan on watching a little tv and goofing off on the computer. I am thinking that I'm feeling a little better today and hopefully getting some energy back. I've been awake all afternoon, so that's a good thing!
I've gotten rid of my exercise bike that we brought back from Arkansas and Wade's dad. I didn't really like it once I started using it because it was too uncomfortable. But someone else is getting some use out of it which is good.

Day 73
Today is Wednesday and it's another cold, rainy day here in Ohio.
I stayed home all day long and I'm trying to gather some energy here. I did lots of reading and studying for my Bible studies, and preparing games and lessons for the Wednesday night kids.
This morning I also skyped again with Wade. He was happy to show me his new refrigerator that he got. It was nice to sit and spend that time with him.
After dinner I went off to church for a night with the kids. We had about 30 tonight and we did review of the whole year. Next week is our final farewell party. I got home around 9:00 and I still can't shake this feeling of exhaustion. I feel like I'm turning into a sissy! I'll be heading off to bed soon.

Day 72
We took a trip back to Feburary-type weather today. It was in the 40's all day long with rain most of the day. No sunshine at all. We've had such wild swings in the temperatures lately.
I have been fighting with allergies/sinus problems vs medication side-effects. This morning I had had enough with the medication so I tried to go without today and see how it went. It went pretty good and I think I'll skip the medicine for a while. I'm feeling pretty tired and worn-out again today. I'm hoping for another early night to see if I can regain some energy.
I worked at Hannah House and then went to the school for the final Sonshine Club. Parents were invited to stay. We sang some of the weekly songs and then had a feast of hot dogs, chips, lemonade, and ice cream cones. The kids had a great time. I was very touched by some of the kids. One in particular, months ago I had singled him out because of his behavior. (On Day 2 of my blog is talked about him. And I asked him if there was something specific he wanted me to pray about for him. And he told me about his medications, how it was not at the right dosage and it was causing some of his behavior.) Well, today, he specifically came up to me and talked to me about how they had fixed his medications and he was feeling better. I didn't think he even remembered our discussion but he did and he wanted to come and share with me. I told him that was a real answer to his prayer and I would look forward to seeing him again next year in Sonshine Club and see how he was doing. That gave me a nice, warm feeling.
I would like to include some pictures from our Children's Musical on Sunday. Unfortunately I had to make myself look ridiculous in this play and it's pretty embarrassing. I am playing a young, upcoming fashion designer who gets in with the wrong crowd. They convince me that the clothes I am wearing here are very stylish and en vogue. The object lesson is one on Peer Pressure.
Our students did a wonderful job with the songs and dances. Here they are singing for the church. They sang a total of 12 songs, many of the children had a solo of some sort, and there was a great dance at the end. Good job guys!!
Wade is busy still. We are going to get together for a skype session tomorrow. I'm looking forward to that.

Day 71
Today has been a reflective day. I think I'm feeling a little burned out and I'm glad I didn't have any-where to go this morn-ing. I did a little house-work and washed my Sunday dishes and then I sat and read and ..... reflected. Just a quiet, moody-type of day.
I got some emails from Wade and he is very excited about some new projects that he is proposing. He also said that he's pretty busy and will probably go to bed pretty early on his Monday night (our Monday noon).
This afternoon I picked up Jared and we did some tutoring and homework.
Tonight I had handbell rehearsal and then a board meeting to attend. I was home by 8:30 and I'll probably be going to bed early tonight too.
I'm just feeling tired out and unmotivated today. But, that's probably to be expected after the busy, busy weekend I had. I have a sweet little orange kitty sitting on my lap and keeping me company - so I feel contented and would be purring like him if I could.

Day 70
So today is Tiffany's birthday and I left off yesterday in the story with us going to bed that Saturday night 34 years ago. I woke up Sunday morning around 6:30 or 7:00 with an uncomfortable, cramping feel in my back. I got up and tried to wake up and thought possibly that I may be having labor pains. We called the hospital and they said to start coming in. Now, based on how long my labor was with Jason, I figured I had quite a bit of time. I decided to take a shower before going in. And there I am in the shower and I was debating, "should I wash my hair????? .... should I not???" I decided to skip the hair and just finish my shower and go. We called my parents to come get Jason. My parents lived in South San Francisco and we were up in Sacramento, (90 miles apart) so it was going to take a while for them to get there. We agreed to meet up at the hospital. So I would say it was about 8:00 or a little later when I arrived at the hospital. Well, they got me on a bed and into a delivery room in good time and Tiffany was very intent on arriving. She was born at 9:19. I had not been prepped for any procedures before delivery (she was THAT quick), and they had to take her away for 24 hour observation in NICU. The doctors and nurses laughed at how quickly I had delivered. My thought, then and now, was what would have happened if I had gone ahead and shampooed my hair??? She could have possibly been born in the car! After that, I was ready for breakfast, so the nurse went to find something for me to eat.
Now Wade and Jason (2 yrs old) were in the waiting room. My parents wouldn't be there for a couple of hours but Wade was asked if he wanted to come in and see Tiffany. So he asked a couple of dependable-looking women if they wouldn't mind watching Jason for a little while. Wade had to scrub up extra good and long and suit up with gown, booties, hat, mask, etc. because he was going into the NICU. When he finally entered, there she was in her own little isolette. And all Wade could do was stick his finger in there and touch her belly and talk to her. So she was here, on time and determined to make an appearance very quickly. My labor was so quick I was actually ready to go home that day, but I had to wait until the next morning for them to release her from the NICU. Everything was fine and we got to go home on Monday.
So, happy birthday to our sweet little girl. May your day and upcoming year be blessed and your wishes come true. We love you very much! You are an inspiration to us.

Today has been a long, busy day. Our "Love in Action" Sunday School class skyped with Wade this morning. However I had to go to another class and only spoke with him about 15 minutes before class started. We had our Children's Musical in church and all I can say is I'm glad it's over now.
We all went home and had a lunch together. Then Jaide and I took off for church again for our Mass Bell Ring. That was fun and I love hearing the other churches play too.
I came home about 5:30 and FINALLY got a chance to call Tiffany and talk with her. She's had a good restful weekend and now is having Sunday depression.
So I'm relaxing - but I did manage to take a little nap after dinner tonight and that was good. And I am looking forward to some relaxing tomorrow morning.
So, happy birthday again, Tiffany. You can go to sleep now. We love you. xo
