Day 56

Happy May Day!

Seeing this picture reminds me of when I was in grade school. We always had a dance program on or near May Day and every year the fourth graders were chosen to do the Maypole Dance. We practiced for hours and weeks to make it just perfect. When I was in fifth grade, our class did a Hawaiian dance. I can't remember any of the other dances, but whenever I see a Maypole, I am immediately taken back in time to the parking lot at Serra Vista Elementary School in South San Francisco.
I have a few other pictures to share here today:
I taught a Sunday School class this morning of Kinder-garteners and 1st & 2nd graders. Our lesson was on the story in Acts chapter 2. During the first part we all sat cross-legged on the floor and I had them put their heads down and close their eyes. I wanted to read the story to them, but I really wanted them to see it in their minds' eye as well. Such an unusual story and I was hoping that it would not just be words going over the tops of their heads. After that they all put on large body socks, which are like gigantic pillow shams made of a material similar to swimsuit lining. As I recited a fun poem/story they acted out portions of the words. Their two feet were in two corners of the socks, and their two hands were the opposite two corners. I'm sure it was hot and sweaty, but we did alright this morning, I think they had fun..... and not one of them wandered off and fell and banged their head (knock on wood!). We were in the Fireside Room and I was so nervous about them getting too close to the bricks at the fireplace.
For lunch today we celebrated Jason's birthday (a little bit early). We had a mexican 'fiesta':
enchiladas, beans, rice, 5-layer dip, guacamole, chips, chicken soft tacos, cake & ice cream for dessert. It was a nice meal and I posted more pictures and a short, short video clip on Facebook. He's gonna be WAY old this year :o)  But his mom and dad are still way young and haven't aged a bit. He bought himself a really cool guitar to play on his Xbox for his birthday. His actual birthday is May 4th (Wednesday).

Wade is doing pretty good. He got a faster internet service and can now watch better streaming videos on youtube and Foxnews. However, due to weather conditions, it was down temporarily today.  He had some more rain but it usually dries up pretty quickly after the rain stops. And his food selections are getting a little rough / the supplies are getting low. I hope they get a delivery soon. I'll have to pack some extra food in the next care package I send, I think.
I had a nice restful afternoon and am watching the second season of Desperate Housewives on Netflix. I plan on being awake for a while tonight and look forward to having a plumber fix the pipes downstairs tomorrow morning. :o)
