Day 2

I'm relaxing in front of the tv this evening.  Got up early because I had lots to do today.
The Springfield School District has required all volunteers to get fingerprinted and have background checks.  My appointment for fingerprinting was first thing this morning.  Note:  always use lots of hand lotion before so that your grooves and whirls will be nice and moist.  Dried out, old fingers do not scan well.  I was done fairly quickly and drove on to the Hannah House where I was greeted by two furnace repairmen.  They were waiting for Selena, but she was running late (a common occurrence with her [BPT]).  The men wanted to go into the basement to look at the furnace.  I let them in and we all looked for the door to the basement.  I had never been in the basement and so we walked all around the first floor trying numerous doors.  Finally they decided to go back and wait in the truck.  Well, I couldn't give up that easily and I finally found the door behind a chair.  I went out and called them back in to do their job.  I went to the office and it was freezing, freezing cold - hence the repairmen.. duh...  :o)  I did the banking, paid the bills, recorded the finances and then backed up all the files on the computer for Selena.  She was concerned about the computer crashing and not having backup.  So now she can relax and I feel good about all that I got accomplished.  I went out once to buy a cup of coffee at Speedway while I was making the bank deposit.  And I gladly left around 12:30 because I was so cold.  I drove home with the heat pouring out of the air conditioning ducts in the car.  I pointed them at my hands on the steering wheel.
At 3:00 I was at Jared's school to help with Sonshine Club.  It is so chaotic but I still enjoy what we're doing.  We had 58 children today.  There are usually 8-10 adults and we shift between games, singing, stories, more games, and other things so quickly just to keep their attention.  It only lasts an hour and that is plenty of time.  I just think with all we do, we probably won't see results directly but I believe we are impacting these young boys and girls regardless.  I was chasing down one little boy - he was around 9 yrs old.  He couldn't sit still at all.  I could have "church-yelled**" at him and tried to get him to behave, but instead I asked him to sit down and I followed Pastor Mark's suggestion.  I sat on the floor with him and I asked him if there was something that I could pray for him this week.  He looked a little confused but said that he was on about 6 different medications and couldn't get them at the right balance.  So I told him I would pray this week about that.  I told him again before he left and said I was looking forward to seeing him next week.  [**Church-yelling is where you nicely tell them they are not doing what is expected and what you want them to do - or else.  Can also be done through clenched teeth.  I've church-yelled at my kids lots of times.]
I asked Wade permission to "feminize" his bathroom while he was gone and I have started cleaning it up and adding my own personal touches.  No painting yet, but I plan on doing that too.  Sorry Wade, but a new paint job = new towels & rugs.  :o)  I also took some of Wade's pictures that were on the wall in the bathroom and made myself a Wade Wall in the bedroom.  And yes, Wade, the BIG picture is also included on the Wade Wall.
I've received a few emails from Wade today.  He had a full, busy day and is tired out tonight.  He's gotten to wear his gun all day too.  He said the food was not that great, but would help him to watch what he's eating.  He said he didn't snore too bad last night - he's sharing the room with 8 (I think) people - not sure how many, but I do know he's not in a room alone.  That's about it from him for today.  It's so nice to get little email messages when he gets a free moment.
I am looking forward to relaxing tonight and probably cutting up some coupons.  Goodnight!!
