I woke up to lots and lots of rain this morning. We had thunderstorm warnings and high wind warnings most of the day. Other than buckets and buckets of rain we didn't get any severe weather here. Most of the roads have standing water along one side or the other. Our gulley in the back area is very well covered in water too.
I got a couple of emails from Wade this morning. He has been experiencing dust storms and said that the internet service for his personal account is down. He was using his work account and would write back when he had internet access again. However, I haven't heard any more. Maybe when I wake up tomorrow he will have sent me something.
I dreamt about him last night. I was in the kitchen of my parents' home in South San Francisco and he had been taking a nap in the bedroom and came out to the kitchen to say hi to me. I woke up shortly after that, but he did give me a hug in the dream. It was a nice dream.
This morning I went to the post office and sent off a package to Wade. Then I went to get my nails done. I tried to think of something to talk with the manicurist about. He is Korean, as are all the people in the shop. He has tried to talk with me about TV shows like "American Idol" and I don't watch that so we just usually sit quietly. But this morning there was a cooking show on the TV in the salon and I asked if he liked to cook. Wow! It was like the floodgates opened up. He talked and talked about cooking and food and asked what my preferences were. We got on the subject of scallops which I don't eat and he was trying to convince me to try to grill scallops because they were so good. We'll see, maybe I'll try them again. It's been almost 35 years since I've eaten them and I didn't like them then.
The rest of the day was pretty dull and boring. I did a little shopping, a little reading, a little tutoring, and a little bell ringing tonight. I wrapped up my night with a can of Progresso Lite Clam Chowder and oyster crackers (9 points). So good and filling. It's still raining here and hopefully we don't lose any trees or have any damage from the rain.
