When Wade left, it was still winter here. Dark, cold, and snowy. I wanted to show here that spring has arrived and things are warmer, greener, and livelier now. This is an independent tulip growing in the shade of our biggest tree in the yard.
The yard is still a little bit soft from rain, but we are starting to park on the grass so the kids can ride their bikes and play on the driveway.
I need to start thinking about calling for our pest control company to come and spray around the outside of the house. I did see some pretty gruesome spiders today. I don't want them to start coming inside to visit, or to think that they are invited.
These planter boxes have some beautiful bulb flowers and by the end of the summer, they will be overflowing with large hosta leaves. That is our pond in the background. I'm not sure if any fish survived this year.
There are so many beautiful flowers that just pop up all spring and summer that we didn't actually plant. A previous owner took very good care of the garden and we are reaping the benefits of their planning.
The trees are starting to "leaf" too. Soon we'll have shade across the majority of the yard.
Soon the ground shrubs and trees will "leaf out" and our neighbors will be hidden until next fall.
Some of the flowers bloom and wilt in just about a day. It's best to walk around daily so that none of the beauty is overlooked.
The pond, the dogs' backyard, and my kitchen window on the right. I have a wonderful view when I wash my dishes.
This is the view of the "woods" across the street. You can see the green tinge which means the leaves are starting to bud over there too. I've seen blossoms on trees in the neighborhood, but none on our property yet.
I had a pretty good day today. I met with my group of Bible Study Ladies at Panera Bread for a fun, fellowship time. We start our new study next week, "Made To Crave". Which is kind of ironic.... don't you think. Eat goodies, bagels, etc. and next week we start studying about what we need to do to avoid overindulging. ha-ha.
I also celebrated my mentee's 10th birthday today. We got her a hoodie, books, and a cupcake. I spent a great hour with her. Each week we read a couple chapters of a book and we finished the one we were reading, so next week we find something new. We read on my Kindle and she loves that!
I am still limping along - one leg is fine, but the other still doesn't bend. Fortunately it's not my driving leg so I can still get around.
Wade also had an excellent day today. Dust storm is gone, his back is feeling better, he got my package in the mail today, work projects are going well. He emailed me his weekly update and I formatted it and got it ready to post to his blog. He will still send out the update in email form, but tonight (late) I will post it to his blog.
