Day 249

What,
What,
What????

Snow fell somewhere in the Miami Valley today. It was definitely cold enough, but television stations here were asking for people to send in pictures of the white stuff that fell today. I never saw any of it myself though. Maybe we'll have more later this week.
I spent the morning hours preparing for my Sunday School class. I have 2nd & 3rd graders this coming Sunday and some of the craft needs to be 'pre-done' so that we will have enough time to do all the planned activities. So, I folded and prepared bird claws, cut out ravens from black paper, cut beaks, and sorted chalk, tape, glue, papers, etc.
This afternoon I took the pickup truck in for an oil change.
I go to Grismer Tires and I trust them. Plus, since I bought tires there a while back, my oil changes are free. So I dropped off the truck and walked across the parking lot to Tim Horton's for lunch. This is the actual picture of my lunch here, chicken noodle soup, toasted 12-grain bagel with lite cream cheese, and a cup of coffee. I brought a book and just enjoyed some quiet time. But, once the soup was gone (about 20-25 minutes later) I turned to look at Grismer and the truck was at the door ready to go home!! Wow!! What service.
Now, on my way home, I have many different choices of roads to take and I get tired of driving through Yellow Springs (the hippie-town) every time. So I turned at this one road telling myself I hadn't been down this way in a long while and bam!! right in front of me was this inching along very slowly:
A huge farm vehicle that took up both lanes - and the fun part?? that would be seeing the cars approaching from the opposite direction and the things they would do to get around this vehicle - plus looking at their faces as they drove past me. This is also a curvy road ahead of me - can you imagine driving around a curve and meeting this head on??
This afternoon I picked up Jared for our afternoon together. We went shopping, picked up some McDonald's food, and went home. First thing, we both made a meatloaf - Jared made one for the beef-eaters in his family and I made one for myself. Then while we worked on homework, the meatloafs (meatloaves?) baked. It smelled great in the kitchen. I enjoyed mine with some mashed potatoes and gravy. I normally just have a sandwich or something quick for my meals, so this was a special treat for me.
It is official (or as official as it can be for right now), but Wade was offered and accepted a position in Afghanistan and he is scheduled to be there until June, 2012. We're not sure exactly when he will be leaving, but it should be soon. This new job sounds pretty good and he may be doing some traveling around the country. I'm sure we'll talk about it more tomorrow when we get together and skype.
